On April 6, the Town of Madison was awarded a grant from the Golden Leaf Foundation’s Community-Based Grants Initiative Program. Applications were submitted to Rockingham County Manager Lance Metzler, who selected qualified applications and made recommendations to the Foundation. The Town of Madison was then invited to submit a formal application. The funds will be used to place new settling plates in basins at the Madison Water Treatment Plant. Upon completion, it is projected that the Water Plant will have the ability to increase production from 1.5 million gallons per day to 2.0 million gallons per day. The additional water capacity will be available to serve new customers along the soon to be completed Highway 220 corridor and growth in the Madison Business Park.
